over darkness falls....aimed at the black audience with pretty big name star in laurence fishburne.....in this area,you get pretty large black patronage at the theatres....so,i`ll take a shot...
biker boyz is crossing over...I even want to see it..i think it is good for 15 million.
the only problem is that biker boyz is dreammworks first ever urban film. so it is going to be a question of whether their people know what theaters to get into and have those relationships. should also get the teen boys in suburbia.
one of the producers of Darkness did the marketing for Blair Witch..his name is Brian H-something. this one might get the teen boys too. not sure if it is getting internet buzz. will know more later this week.
will be close...if this is next weekend, the numbers will by WAY down because of the Super Bowl. they always are.

This one is too murky for me, IMO...there hasn't been a decent horror flick since "The Ring," but "Darkness Falls" doesn't look all that interesting. Very generic.
"Biker Boyz" is trying to get some of the "Fast and Furious" business. If pressed, I'd agree it will likely outgross DF.
I don't take these bets because I hate sweating the results for over a week.
I think having the Super Bowl this weekend only helps your chances. BO business should be slow on Sunday, as AC mentioned.

1500 vs 2500 screen count is a huge differential. if this is true (accurate screen coutns will be available wed night) then I would get out of the bet. basically, you would have to count on DARKNESS to completely tank, and i just don't know about that.
if they are going for only the urban marketplace for BIKER, then 1500 is the right number (its acutally 1200-1400). i think they are going to go for more than just urban though.

spinchter: in my opinion, you should get out of your bet if you can. I just looked at the release schedule and I didn't realize that biker boyz is going up against Final Destination 2. FD 2 will pull a lot of urban audience and a lot of teen audience away from biker boyz. Action junkies may also get pulled into The Recruit (i think that movie will tank, but it might take a little business away from BB) Darkness Falls is going up relatively unopposed (Chicago adds 700+ theaters and confessions is in 2000 but they are going after different audiences).

talked me into a hedge...i took darkness falls for over 9.5 mill..if no go,my bad......let`s hope i hit one of these....this movie stuff is not my strong suit...all very small wagers...
